ABOUT AEES

About the Plasma and Quantum Science and Engineering Major

In the field of energy in terms of matter, energy and environment, the era of improving performance without considering fossil energy supply and consumption power for sustainable society has come to an end.

In the Plasma and Quantum Science and Engineering Major, we are conducting basic research to realize nuclear fusion reactors as a sustainable energy source using nuclear fusion. In addition, we are conducting academic education and research on new energy development and its basic science aiming at the multiple use of plasma and high-energy particles, such as research on malfunction due to cosmic rays of semiconductors originating from extreme environments such as space, development of space technology like thrusters using plasma, and research on the interaction between organisms and plasma, which has been attracting attention due to the high reactivity of plasma.

Classification: About the Major system

Interdesciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences has launched a new start as the "Department of Engineering Sciences" program with the integration of five majors from April 1st, 2021. They have also introduced a new admission system, with three categories and six curriculums (majors) for a more specialized education.

Our "Plasma and Quantum Science and Engineering Major" is one of the curriculums (majors) after admission and we will cultivate researchers and highly specialized technicians who will be active in the field of high energy fundamentals and applications, from the development of new energy to the development of environment-friendly materials using plasma science and quantum science.

Category II consists of two majors, the Plasma and Quantum Science and Engineering Major and the Device Engineering Major.
